Key Takeaways from the Best Onewheel Elbow Pads in 2023

  1. Triple Eight ExoSkin Elbow Pad: High-density foam padding and kevlar lining make these elbow pads flexible, comfortable, and tear-resistant. Ideal for long rides, they can be worn under clothing, providing discreet protection.
  2. G-Form Pro X3 Elbow Pads: Built on an exoskeleton design, these elbow pads feature a modular pad sewn into a moisture-wicking compression sleeve. The padding uses Reactive Protective Technology (RPT) to absorb and redistribute energy on impact, offering comprehensive coverage while maintaining flexibility and a low profile.
  3. Triple Eight Street Elbow Pad: A budget-friendly option with a hard shell design for added protection. These elbow pads are less comfortable than softer versions but are favored by more aggressive riders for their durability.

Remember, safety is paramount when riding a Onewheel. Alongside a good helmet and wristguards, elbow pads are an essential part of your protective gear. Stay safe and enjoy your ride!

1. Triple Eight ExoSkin Elbow Pad

The Triple Eight ExoSkin Elbow Pad is one of the highest-rated elbow pads on the market. The pads consist of high-density foam padding making them flexible and comfortable to wear over long rides. The outside area is lined with kevlar to increase the abrasion and add tear resistance.

Usually, you wear these pads under your clothing, making them almost invisible during your ride. The downside of wearing them under your clothing is that you will scratch your jacket/shirt if you take a hard hit.

These are the most comfortable pads I have worn and the Triple Eight ExoSkin are my preferred elbow pads, they are nice and comfortable to wear under your clothes. I would say that they are true to the size chart. I use L for my elbow pad. I’m 186cm 72kg as a reference.

2. G-Form Pro X3 Elbow Pads

The G-Form Pro X3 is the latest evolution of the G-Form Pro X lineup.

G-Form has made its name in many sports and has an impressive range of protective gear for all sorts of activities. G-Form Pro X3 Elbow Pads are built on their exoskeleton design, which has taken the market by storm. G-Form has also built a strong reputation among skateboarders and now Onewheelers are seeing the benefits of their protection.

G-Form Pro X3 Elbow Pads is constructed by a modular pad sewn into a moisture-wicking compression sleeve. This helps them be comfortable during long rides, with coverage in all directions while staying flexible and still maintaining a low profile.

The modular pad is based on Reactive Protective Technology (RPT), this is what G-Form calls impact-absorbing polymer used in their entire line of protective pads and gear.

The padding, RPT, works interestingly, at rest, the molecules within the padding repel each other, making the padding soft and flexible when worn. On impact, the molecules bind together, making the overall structure denser, the structure absorbs, redistributes, and slows energy transfer.

After impact, the molecules return to their original state making the pad soft and flexible again. An added benefit is if you need to wash them, just take them off and throw them in the washer.

3. Triple Eight Street Elbow Pad

The Triple Eight Street Elbow Pad is a good budget option for anyone who wants to use hard shell protection but still wants something comfortable. The hard shell design will give some added protection compared to the softer version. The downside is that they are not as comfortable as the other option.

Hardshell/cap protection is the go-to for more aggressive riders and the norm in the skater community. The plastic will take a beating if you are getting launched across the street.

The elbow pads consist of high-density contoured EVA foam and a hard shell of impact-resistant polyethylene.

Are you looking for the best performance for money get these or even better buy them as a pack with the knee pads included.

Conclusion

The best Onewheel elbow pads according to me are the Triple Eight ExoSkin, the pads are my choice when I ride and don’t use my Armored hoodie. They are a good mix for both protection and comfortable wear while riding. The possibility to use them under my clothes without restricting my movement made me choose them over the other alternatives.

The G-form is a great alternative to the ExoSkin. If you want to have a good budget option go for the Triple Eight Street Elbow pad.

If you want to have some even more comfortable clothing, Then I would look into the Lazyrolling Armored Hoodie. It’s a hoodie with elbow, shoulder, and back protection. Elbow pads can be cumbersome to put on depending on your clothing. With the hoodie, you just take it on. If you want more information read my 1-year review of the Lazyrolling Armored Hoodie.
