What comes in the box of the Onewheel Pint

I think that we all know the feeling when we go and are waiting for something to arrive. After unboxing the Onewheel Pint the first thing I did wonder was, is the board charge? Can I ride it?

Yes, the Onewheel Pint will come charged from the manufacturer. To allow for all shipping regulations it will be in a state of charge of around 30-50% when it arrives. This allows you to ride somewhere around 2-4miles before you need to charge the board.

Shipping fully charged lithium batteries are considered dangerous and not allowed by regulation. Another factor is that keeping the battery at 100% full charge for a prolonged time is not good for the cells inside the pack.

Is my Onewheel Pint ready to go out of the box?

Yes, the Onewheel Pint is ready to go out! As the battery is not fully charged you will not be able to run so far until you need to charge your board. You will most likely get around 2 miles and I would not recommend you to run the board down to zero as riding the board below 10% drastically increases the risk of a nosedive. Future Motion does recommend you fully charge your Onewheel Pint before your first ride.

Do I need to charge the Onewheel Pint to 100% before my first ride?

No, you don’t need to charge it fully the first time you ride it, even if it’s recommended to do so before your first ride. It’s important to keep it fully charged from time to time as after hitting 100% the BMS starts to balance the individual cells in the battery back. That being said go out and shred, just take it easy the first time. If you want to know more about maintaining the battery read the full guide on how to charge the Onewheel board over here.
