Onewheel Pint X box

After ordering the Onewheel Pint X there is a tedious wait until the box shows up at the door. Ripping up the box the first thing that comes to mind is can I ride the board, does the Onewheel XR come charged so it’s just out and ride?

Yes, the Onewheel Pint X will come charged around 30-50% from the manufacturer. Storing a fully charged or completely drained board for a prolonged time on the shelf is not good for the battery. This allows you to ride somewhere around 2-4miles before you need to charge the board the first time.

Shipping fully charged lithium batteries is considered dangerous and not allowed by regulation. Another factor is that keeping the battery at 100% full charge for a prolonged time is not good for the cells inside the pack.

Is my Onewheel Pint X ready to go out of the box?

Yes, the Onewheel Pint X is ready to go out of the box. It’s recommended to read the manual and the rider’s guide before stepping onto the board if you are a new rider.

As the battery is not fully charged you will not be able to run the full range until you need to charge the board. You will most likely get around 4-6 miles and I would not recommend you run the battery down to zero. Riding the board below 10% drastically increases the risk of a nosedive. Future Motion does recommend you fully charge your Onewheel Pint X before your first ride.

Do I need to charge the Onewheel Pint X to 100% before my first ride?

No, you don’t need to charge the Onewheel Pint X fully the first time you ride it, even if it’s recommended to do so before your first ride. It’s important to keep it fully charged from time to time as after hitting 100% the BMS starts to balance the individual cells in the battery back. That being said, go out and shred, just take it easy the first time. If you want to know more about maintaining the battery read the full guide of how to charge the Onewheel board over here.
