Onewheel Repair & Service

The Onewheel is a great machine and in most cases will last you for a long time. But there are some things that will need to be replaced and if a bad thing happens, needs to be repaired.

I always recommend, if you are under warranty, to contact Future Motion service and try and get the board repaired under the warranty. Many of us riders are not under warranty anymore and then there are the options below.

How to repair a Onewheel that is out of warranty?

If your board is too old, you have ridden too many miles, or made any modifications, then the board is out of warranty.

DONT Send it to Future Motion: Sending the board to Future Motion is the obvious first option that could come to mind. We don’t recommend it as the cost of getting it diagnosed, repaired, and sent back is high. Especially for us international customers. Second, if you ever have done anything to the board, battery modifications, or taped into a wire. The board is deemed “unsafe” and they won touch it. People have reported the same for nonstock tires.

The options that are left are:

  1. Do it yourself (DIY): As an engineer, I love breaking things down and trying to fix things myself. Some of the most common failures of the boards can quite easily be fixed with someone that can handle a soldering iron. (Troubleshooting guide)
If you don’t feel like trying to repair your $1,800 technical piece of equipment then the next recommendation is to look into a local repair shop.
  2. Local repair shop: During the last few years there has been an explosion of local repair shops that also handles the Onewheel. Stokelife is a global network of personal electric vehicle repair centers that helps you find a shop near you.

Stokelife Service Network

The Stokelife Service Network is a global network of personal electric vehicle repair centers. They are not certified by Future Motion Inc. as they will not certify any third-party shop. Future Motion Inc. doesn’t repair altered boards giving a market to services like Stokelife and their network. They specialize in repairing boards even with badly-installed, third-party, after-market products.

We want to make sure that everyone can spend as much time as possible riding a functioning board, and Future Motion can spend as much time as possible designing more awesome products.

Onewheel Repair Shops Near Me?

To find the closes shop go to their homepage and the map will show all available repair centers. It makes no sense for me to add them to a list as they add more all the time.

It´s getting easier to find a Onewheel repair shop near you.

As the different shops are located across the world and operate in different environments there is no universal price list for the service. They do have an agreed recommended standard charge for each service that will vary slightly from place to place.

How long is the Onewheel warranty?

Before ever sending in the board to Future motion make sure it’s under warranty.

The Onewheel warranty is based on time, miles ridden, and if you have done anything to your board. For defects in materials and workmanship, the period is 12 months / 2000 KM (1243 miles), whichever comes first. The warranty for the footpad, tire, and battery pack is 6 months / 1000 KM (622 miles).

Basically, everything will break the warranty and the stickers on the control box are really fragile so don’t even think about getting near it. Read more about the Onewheel Warranty over here.

Onewheel service

Future Motion Inc. got a couple of service options that you can buy directly from them. Usually, this is quite a good offer for riders in the USA as the price includes the work and components and the US round trip is included in the shipping cost. For an international rider, the shipping fee will outweigh the price of the components like a new tire. International customers need to contact FM before ordering. Onewheel Customer Service number

IMPORTANT: Don’t send in your board if you have anything on the board that isn’t stock. Any modifications, battery mods, tire changes that are not stock or upgrades might render your board “not safe to work on” and they will deny you the service. Basically, you will need to pay them for back around shipment for nothing.

Tire Change (All Onewheel Models) for $99.00

The tire change will include a new tire and the work to assemble it. If you are looking for the stock rubber, yes this is actually quite a good price for a new Vega or Unii on your board.

Tune up + Refresh Pack – Onewheel Pint $170.00

They also got Tune-up and Refresh Pack packages for the different boards like the Pint.

The team goes through the board to ensure that it is performing as it should. Probably there are just checking the diagnostics. The key is the Refresh package where they change the Footpads and Bumpers of the board.

Tune up + Reload Pack – Onewheel Pint $230.00

This is the Tune up + Refresh Pack with a tire change included for an additional $60 making it a great deal if you have a stock board and want FM to work on it. As above if you have modified your Onewheel, then look into the third party shops around the nation to help you out.
